FAQS
Commonly asked questions about our events, rules and what to expect.
Only teams comprised of all sponsored drivers are eligible to earn a time credit. Time credits are determined before the event based on the amount of sponsorship funds raised by your team that exceed your minimum cumulative team commitment. The time credit is applied to your team’s cumulative time (score) at the end of the competition. Your team will earn a time credit as follows:
At least 50% over the minimum team amount = .250 second credit against final team score
At least 100% over the minimum team amount = .500 second credit against final team score
Example: Your team, which is comprised of all sponsored drivers, has a minimum financial commitment of $1,000 each or $3,000 for your team. If your team raises between $4,500 and $6,000 through individual sponsor donations (at least 50% over the minimum) then your team will be awarded a time credit of .250 seconds. If your team raises a total of $6,000 or more through sponsor donations (100% over the minimum), then your team will be awarded a time credit of .500 seconds.
For example, if at the end of the event your team score is 94.645 seconds and you have earned a .500 second time credit by overshooting your minimum fundraising commitment by more than 100%, then your team’s final score will be reduced by .500 seconds to 94.145 seconds. The team with the lowest “score” is the winner.
No helmets or driving suits are required.
Yes, but passengers must be at least 12 years old and you must sign a minor waiver authorizing their ride-along participation at on-site registration.
The course is laid out with the safety of the participants and event staff as the highest priority. In the unlikely event that you crash into a hard object, there is no financial liability for damage done to the car. However, you will have to sign a waiver prior to participation indemnifying Miles Ahead, the Youth Opportunity Foundation, and the event venue in case of an incident.
If you elect to register by paying a one time fee, you will be obligated to pay that fee unless you cancel your participation at least three weeks prior to the event or name a substitute driver to take your place. If you elect to have sponsors fund your participation, the donations are not refundable, but you may name a substitute driver to take your place.
Once you register, you will have your own profile page to which you can add your photo and additional information for your prospective sponsors about your participation in the event. Your Profile page is where your sponsors can donate.
No, but if you elect not to have sponsors fund your participation you will be required to pay a $1,500 registration fee. The event is being held to raise funds for the Youth Opportunity Foundation. These registration fee options help ensure that sufficient funds will be raised to justify the work involved in organizing and conducting the event.
100% of the registration fees and sponsorship funds go directly to the Youth Opportunity Foundation to help fund its programs. Miles Ahead, Inc. is paid a pre-negotiated percentage of the funds raised from the event to cover its costs to conduct it.

You may register any time up to a week prior to the event.
Your participation will take approximately two hours. After a low-speed orientation lap, you will get three separate sessions of three timed runs each for a total of nine timed runs through the course. You will take turns driving the course with the other teams who have registered for the same time slot. You will have enough time between your three lap sessions to debrief with your teammates and to prepare to improve your lap times in your next runs.
It will not be possible for you to either drive or walk the course prior to your participation, but you will get a low speed orientation lap of the course led by a professional driver / instructor prior to your timed laps. The instructor will give driving tips over in-car radios during the orientation lap.
In order for the event to run smoothly and for the competition to be fair, each team must have three drivers on it. However, you may register as an individual competitor, but priority is given to team registrants.
There will be large, flat panel monitors at the event that display the individual lap times and the team standings in near real time. In addition, there is a web site you can access on your smart phone that displays the individual standings by fastest lap. The URL for the timing web site will be prominently displayed at the event and easily accessible. You may also access the timing web site after you’ve left the event in in order to keep track of the times turned in by other competitors throughout the day.
You are free to stay at the event as long as you wish and watch the next group(s) drive or you may leave. There will be food and drinks available and tables and chairs to allow you to socialize with your teammates and other participants.
If you elected to register by paying a one-time fee, your cancellation must be received by us at least three weeks prior to the event in order to receive a full refund. If you cancel within three weeks of the event date, you will have to pay a cancellation charge of 66% of your registration fee, but this forfeiture will be waived if you name a substitute driver to take your place. If you elected to register by signing up sponsors, the sponsorship funds already donated will not be refunded, but you may also name a substitute driver to take your place. Please contact us at info@bemilesahead.net regarding cancellations.
